OSEN-SAN Kimono Collection Part 2

In this post I continue with Osen-san kimono outfits in the last five episodes of Osen series.

Episode 6

In this episode, Osen-san has many fashionable and trendy kimono outfits. For instance, the choices for her accessories in this outfit is absolutely well-done coordinated from her tabi socks, her bag, her hairpin and especially her haori.

The first five outfits are Osen-san at-home yukata. I especially like the red gingham with blue flowers yukata as well as the blue grey yukata with orange pink red stripe obi. In the last picture, Osen-san wears her usual okami kimono in silver theme.

This kimono outfit is one of her formal komon since in this scene, she is serving her dating partner. The kimono is in high quality silk black color with big red and ivory flowers. For the perfect coordination, Osen-san choose a pearl hairpin for a mature and elegant image.

The kimono Osen-san wearing in this picture is long sleeves furisode, a formal kimono with brightful pattern wore by young and unmarried ladies since she goes to her omiai. You can see Japanese girls wear them for their coming of age ceremony. The choice of the furisode with neutral purple and white colors enhances Osen-san calm and kindness while her colorful obi shows her cheerful and enthusiastic side of her personality.

Episode 7

In the first picture, Osen-san goes out for lunch with her restaurant’s chefs so she wears a casual colorful komon coordinated with a haori.

In the second picture, from the left, Osen-san wears her casual yukata. The rest outfits are her informal komon.

All those four are komon and houmongi. They are all coordinated with outstanding and dress-up obi. (I am not sure the obi style is asagao musubi or chouchou musubi. I think it is more complicated then the original musubi or maybe because she uses more formal obi.)

Episode 8

Because I want to share all her outfits, I put all small scenes of this episode outfits in this picture. In the series, Osen-san wears many of this working pants outfits. I really like them. They are combination of cuteness and tradition.

These three outfits can be listed as Osen-san casual komon with colorful patterns. However, one of her obi is styled complicated as usual. And in the circle pattern blue color komon, she wears a velvet haori when going outside.

Episode 9

This kimono is also my favorite because of the flowers and combination of the komon and obi. This style is in one of modern trends with big flower and stripe pattern.

This purple pattern komon of her is quite of vintage styles in my opinion. As usual, her date eri is very pretty and well coordinated with all the outfit.

Since Osen-san goes out for official meeting, she wears a more formal and elegant komon with also a formal bird obi in blue and white colors.

The first kimono is casual yukata at home. The second outfit is a combination of high formal black kimono and yellow obi.

Episode 10

All these four are Osen-san yukata at home, coordinated with pretty musubi style rather then usual yukata obi style. While the first three are more vintage, the last one is modern big stripe pattern.

I remember I saw this komon in a kimono magazine. It is a trendy fashionable komon, well coordinated with a vintage obi.

The first three outfits are casual komon while the last one is at-home stars yukata. Osen-san also wears the yukata with a long velvet black haori.

In this picture, Osen-san is serving a very important guest so she chooses to wear a formal and elegant Shouwa or Heisei houmongi with patterns in one shoulder and down.

I had watched this series again and again since I really like the cooking and the kimono. This is absolutely my top favorite with colorful flowers komon coordinated with stripe obi. It is a wonderful kimono to wear in spring for a date or a visit or a dinner.

This is the end of Osen-san kimono collection topic. Many of Osen-san kimono outfits, I did see them in kimono magazine such as Kimono Hime. I also research some kimono brands and I think few of Osen-san kimono should come from Furifu or Mamechiyo. OSEN-SAN Kimono Collection Part 1

In this post, I am very excited to share Osen-san kimono collection in the Japanese drama Osen as promised. For me this is the most pretty article I have had in my personal blog and this is also the start of art and fashion blogging of AiUchu & The World beside sharing film and anime.

Episode 1

The two kimonos from the side are formal kimono Osen-san wears when she works as an okami-san of her restaurant. I think both of them are komon, a type of kimono style. In the middle, she wears an at-home yukata with a haori to keep warm. I really like her stripe obi in the formal outfits, it brings a sense of modern art to her kimono. The actress Aoi Yu looks very fashionable and elegant in kimono in my opinion.

Osen-san wears this when she goes out to meet her friend. This outfit style is a mix of vintage and modern kimono since the obi is the modern trendy pattern while the kimono and haori (jacket) have a vintage sense along with the zori (sandals) and her scarf. It is one of my favorite because of its colors.

This is another formal kimono outfit she wears for work. Since the drama set is in autumn, her kimono always reflects of the season and its natural colors.

This is also one of my favorite for its elegant and flawlessness. I love her date eri (collars) in this outfit, it is absolutely perfect for the kimono pattern. I think this kimono is a houmongi. (I am not very sure since it is hard for me to figure out which is houmongi and komon.) Her autumn haori is one of a kind since as I see it is made from warmer material.

As Osen-san goes to a cooking competition, she wears a Japanese traditional apron in white. As seen in the picture, you can see her simple flawless white butterfly hairpin. I totally fall in love with this hair accessory and the cute but elegant apron.

This is a scene of her makeup corner. The hair accessories and kanzashi (Japanese hair ornaments) are absolutely traditional outstanding vintage.

Episode 2

These two outfits are wore when you do labor works as Osen-san goes shopping for grocery and making miso paste. In the first outfit, she wears the farming pants over the kimono top and put on a haori while in the second one, she puts up the kimono and wear a pair of pants. Since the kimono sleeves are in the way when working around, she uses a string to put up the sleeves and wears a normal apron.

In these two pictures, Osen-san wears casual komon with pretty obi shapes to look more stunning.

Episode 3

In this picture, I put in the outfits appearing in small scenes. The first and the third, Osen-san wears formal komon as an okami-san. I like the first date eri in pink and polka dots. The second and last are at-home yukata for comfort.

For this scene, the stylist chooses a modern and colorful pattern for Osen-san. It is one of my favorite as well for its fashionable sense. The haori is well coordinated with the kimono.

This is so far my fourth favorite from the komon to the haori. In this outfit, the stylist also chooses to coordinate modern kimono with vintage haori and platform geta. This is flawless fashionable.

This episode has so many of my favorite outfits. In this picture, Osen-san goes out for lunch and drink with her older friend. Therefore, she wears a colorful flowers pattern houmongi as my guess.

For this picture, I want to show the pretty umbrella and how kind Aoi Yu looks in this scene, under the rain.

One of Osen-san okami kimono collection is this formal komon. (Since I am not sure, I write it as formal komon. Please feel free to comment so I can learn more about kimono.)

Episode 4

The first outfit is a casual komon Osen-san wears to the shopping district meeting while the rest are yukata. The stripe yukata is a significant modern and trendy yukata style. I very much like the last yukata with the butterfly pattern.

Osen-san farming outfits always make me falling in love again and again. The flowers kimono top are absolutely well coordinated with the stripe pants. Moreover, her pair of farming geta is interesting.

This is my most favorite outfit in this episode, the stunning flower komon, the girly obi, her ribbon hair accessory and her polka dots parasol.

This blue pattern formal komon with an umbrella pattern obi brings a sense of calmness and confident. I think I want to wear this to my job interview or a casual business meeting or home visiting.

Yellow, black and white are never fail. This outfit is well color coordinated. Both the komon and the obi have modernly artistic pattern which is lovely coordinated with traditional patterned scarf. One should not forget to mention the unique bag and the platform zori.

Episode 5

In the beginning of this episode, Osen-san wears a very homey yukata while the little girl wears her colorful kimono. (I am not sure which style this kimono is. Please do not hesitate to comment of the kimono style.) Moreover, you can see few stunning pieces of kimono hanging in the room.

To keep warm and be more pretty formal but still comfortable, Osen-san wear a silk haori over her yukata.

The light does make the kimono color looked a different. While doing the flowers and also visiting someone house for casual talk, Osen-san wears a casual stripe komon with abtracts pattern butterfly shape obi and a casual geta.

These two formal komon outfits are my most favorite pieces in Osen-san okami kimono collection. I think they are called shouwa houmongi because of the pattern in one shoulder and down.

In this outfit, Shouwa style Houmogi is used with a vintage obi and pretty much modern pattern date eri. Personally, I think it brings a sense of cuteness for the lady. It is would be lovely to go out for dinner with your date in this houmongi.

Winter anime series – I’m watching @.@

I am very appreciated for all producers this winter. These winter anime series are so adorable and interesting. There are magics, vampire, dragon, soldier, maid, goth, lolita, high school and science fiction. It has been quite a time to feel so eager to see next episode.

URARA MEIROCHOU

The anime is daily life of four 15 years old girls in a special town called Meirochou – Labyrinth Town. The town is a special place for girls, who want and have recommendation to become fortuneteller, come to train when reaching the age of 15. With a wish to find her mother, Chiya, a cheerful 15 years old girl, raised in the mountains, meets Kon, a traditional serious girl, Koume, a western lover and Nono, an extremely shy girl at the Urara fortune tea shop for their tranings.

The anime has a twist of yuri but nothing goes over board. According to myanimelist, it should have 12 episodes. Since i like traditional Japanese and mysterious spirited world, I really enjoy watching the anime. The visual is also very youthful, fresh and sparkling.

KOBAYASHI-SAN CHI NO MAID DRAGON

The Urara anime story plot is not very new to me. However, Maid Dragon really blows a fresh air to me. In this anime, I can enjoy fantasy story of dragons and normal anime culture including otaku, maid or lolita.

This is also slice of life anime. It shows daily life of a maid otaku working girl and her maid, who is a dragon. There are many dragons showing up in the anime gradually. I do really enjoy the visual. There is an adorable young lolita dragon. She is super cute, my favorite.

MINAMI KAMAKURA KOUKOU JOSHI JITENSHA-BU

This anime is for the one who enjoys high school club activities slice of life anime like K-on for example. Instead of music, it is cycling club of a girl high school called Minami Kamakura in Nagasaki. The anime tells the story of a first year high school girl moves to Kamakura Nagasaki then meets with other students to establish cycling club with the purpose to travel by bicycle to see beautiful places.

MASAMUNE-KUN NO REVENGE

Masamune-kun changes himself from a fat boy into a charming high school boy with a revenge plan in mind to the cruel princess of the school Aki Adagaki. However, with a lack of romance, his plan does not seem to work until Adagaki’s maid proposes to help him. When things start to go as his plan, a new girl appears.

This is a quite typical romance high school anime. However, it is more interesting because of the revenge, its story line and its characters.

SEIREN

Seiren is also a romance high school anime but on a different level with Masamune-kun no revenge. Its characters are more realistic. The anime relationship and the feeling of the character aim to be erotic in adolescent ages. It is very attractive and interesting anime. Each four episodes focus on a relationship.

DEMI-CHAN WA KATARITAI

Demi human, demi-chan, is a human with a special ability for example vampires or yuki onna (snow lady). In a high school, there are four demi humans, three female students and one female teacher. Four of them get helps and hang around with a biology male teacher who has an interested in demi human. He tries to understand their pains and helps them around.

AKIBA’S TRIP THE ANIMATION

Based on the video game Akiba’s Trip, the anime is a fight between a team of a Finnish super-strong lady, an otaku boy turned Bugged One and a high-class Bugged One girl, who want to defend and protect Akihabara, and evil Bugged Ones, who want to destroy human and takes over Akihabara. The technique to knock out a Bugged One is strip its clothes off to expose it to the sun. The Bugged One nature works like a vampire with super strengths and burned under the sun.

YOUJO SENKI

Youjo Senki is my favorite winter anime. It has magics, old time war in the west, a sadist loli. For me it is a perfect anime. The main character is so interesting.

Bunny and Raccoon Usagi to Takuni

Usagi-chan Rin-chan and Takuni-chan Poco-chan are the two cutest anime kid characters I love the most.

Rin-chan is one of the main character in anime series called Usagi Doroppu Bunny Drop. The anime is based on the manga by Yumi Unita. The manga live action was also released when the anime was aired in 2011. The film featured Mana Ashida, the most famous kid actress, who nailed many films and series at a very young age. The live action is quite different from the anime and manga. However, it is very touching and warm in its own way (for me, I think it is because of Ashida). I recommend watching the movie.

The anime follows the story of a thirty year old single man Daikichi and a six year old girl Rin who is the daughter of his grandfather with his lover. After grandfather died, Rin’s mother also left, Daikichi decided taking care of Rin since no one wanted to foster her. The anime consists of 11 episodes and 4 bonus episodes. Each episode follows daily life of Daikichi and Rin when they become a family. In my opinion, Usagi Doroppu is one of the cutest anime ever, the visual is super adorable and suitable with the story, even the opening is kawaii. Moreover, after the 11 episodes, do not miss the 4 bonus episodes.

In the other hand, in the anime Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari, Poco-chan is a takuni turing into a six year old boy in order to be with Souta, a young man in his twenties, and make him happy after his father passed away. At first, Souta doesn’t know Poco is a takuni but later he wants to protect Poco with all his mind. The anime is fall anime 2016 and has 12 episodes. Similar to Usagi Drop, this anime follows family relationships.

I think the story plot of this anime is quite simple and familiar. The point that makes it more interesting is Poco-chan, a very cute boy and cuter when he turns into takuni.

Ramen and Homey Dinner

Few months ago, I found these two series and somehow I decided to put them together in one post. The common outcomes I got after watching these two series are some cooking tips and few simple but delicious recipes.

Homey Dinner comes from the anime series Amaama to Inazuma which has a very catchy English name Sweetness and Lightning. The anime is a light and cute series consisting of 12 episodes. Each episode, the characters cook one homemade meal with a pretty detailed recipes. There are pot rice donabe gohan, pork soup tonjiru, hamburg steak, vegetables gratin, donuts, gyoza, mochi, squid and taro stew, curry, fish meals, sweet potato crepes and okonomiyaki. It is an excited menu, isn’t it?

Based on same name manga Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san by Narumi Naru, the short live action series has only 4 episodes featuring famous and interesting ramen restaurants in Tokyo. This is a series for ramen lovers and foodies. There is an episode teaching making a simple authentic ramen and I nailed it. Yay!!!

Short summary: Koizumi (Akari Hayami) is a mysterious and attractive high school student. But what most people don’t know about her is that she’s a ramen master who is always on the lookout for great ramen restaurants. Everyday, she goes hunting for real-life places serving the best ramen dishes and delightfully eats the delicious noodles. (viki.com)

Ookami Kodomo no Ame Wolf Children

Wolf children is another anime movie directed by well-known The girl who leapt through time 2016 and The boy and the beast 2015 director Mamoru Hosoda. (The boy and the beast is in the last post and I will write a post about The girl who leapt through time anime film and live action in the future.)

The anime film won the 2013 Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year, the 2012 Mainichi Film Award for Best Animation Film, and the 2013 Animation of the Year award at the Tokyo International Anime Fair. It also won two awards at the Oslo Films from the South festival in Norway: the main award, the Silver Mirror, and the audience award. At 2013 New York International Children’s Film Festival it won an Audience Award and the 2014 Best Anime Disc award from Home Media Magazine. (Myanimelist)

The anime film tells the story of Hana, a college student, falls in love with a mysterious young man. They get married, have two healthy babies but one day he died, left the children and his wife behind. Without no one by her side and the hardship of raising two kids, Hana decides to move to a far away countryside for a new start. Things start to change not for only Hana but also the kids since they learn their father’s secret and start to decide their own paths.

In general, the anime story of a young mother raising two kids makes me have a kind of a difficult feeling. However, Hana’s character and her kids make everything so adorable, warm and positive. Since the film features the voices of three recognized actors Aoi Miyazaki, Takao Osawa and Haru Kuroki, it makes the characters so lively and emotional. Besides the warm feeling from the characters, the voice is the second thing I love the most from the film.

The Boy and The Beast Bakemono no Ko

Released in November 2015, directed by Mamoru Hosoda, the anime movie The Boy and The Beast won Best Animated Feature award of the 37th Japan Academic Prizes besides listing as the second highest-grossing domestic film in 2015. (Myanimelist)

I do not want to spoil the film so I just share a bit of the story. The anime is a story of both lonely, stubborn but strong soul of two different individuals from different worlds. They end up being together. However, a human cannot leave in the other world where animals become Gods, he will be consumed by darkness.

I was not very eager to watch the movie when I saw the anime movie trailer before it was released comparing to When Marine was there for example. I noticed that the anime movie should has the same director as Wolf Children Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki which I re-watch few times since I really like its story-line and voices. I think the reason I am not so excited is the drawing style. However, after watching those two anime movies of director Mamoru Hosoda, I am looking forward to his next work. Since I am always fancied by the other spirit world, I am very happy when watching The Boy and The Beast. Similar to Wolf Children, The Boy and The Beast brought me to feel the warm and close relationships between human and spirited animals. In short, I can say that this is a warm, positive and educated anime movie. It is definitely nice to watch with family. I would like to watch it with my father one day since we had good times watching Finding Nemo and Cars together and even re-watch them.

Re-watch anime Kuragehime Jellyfish Princess

Released in 2010, the anime consists of 11 episodes and was made from its manga Kuragehime, mangaka Higashimura Akiko sensei, released in 2008. In 2010, the manga won Kodansha the Best Shoujo Manga award and was nominated for Manga Taisho Award. (Mangafox.me) Its live-action version was also released in 2014.

The story is about Tsukimi-chan, a kurage otaku, who moves to Tokyo alone to become a designer/illustrator. In Tokyo, she lives in the house of Amamizukan, a strict but warm apartment complex of otaku girls. One day, Tsukimi-chan meets a mysterious beautiful and fashionable girl who does not seem as she looks. Things start to change for Tsukimi and Amamizukan.

I read the manga before I watched its anime. I saw it on mangafox and really like the drawing. The anime is quite short but very pretty and interesting. While the manga is still on-going status. For me the plot is perfect. It is very cute, youthful, otaku feeling and of course very lovely feeling of love. Another point is it is a must recommendation for who loves fashion. There are episodes where Tsukimi wearing kimono (I love them) and the fashionable girl is definitely gorgeous. In my opinion, the anime is quite similar to the manga. I enjoy both the manga and anime. I think I watched the anime firstly in 2013 and now re-watched in 2017. I recommend to watch the anime on gogoanime.io (the quality is very good) and as usual read the manga on mangafox.

About the live-action, the Amamizukan girls look pretty much like the drawing but the fashionable girl is pretty much off, in my opinion. But need to keep in mind that it is pretty difficult to look as gorgeous as the manga and anime. I think it is entertaining to read the manga, watch anime and its live action for references.

Shows concerning food always have my full attention as usual. The three dramas I share below are those I watch over and over again.

PS I also learn how to cook some dishes from those shows.

The show is adapted from the same manga about one of the oldest and famous restaurant. Main character, “okami-san” of the restaurant is Handa Sen- Osen-san (Aoi Yu) who is a lovely and brave girl. I very much admire her. The series will guide you through out Japanese traditional cuisine. The most things I love about this series are their elegant dishes, the precious carefully cooking process and Osen-san kimono collection. Her kimono collection is really a treasure. A recommendation for those who love traditional food and kimono. (I will post an article on Osen-san kimono collection.)

SHINYA SHOKUDO

Next in line is a ‘warm’ series (3 seasons). Recommended =]

Coming to this night restaurant, you can order any food you would like to eat. Each episode is a story of a customer of the night restaurant. For me, this series is very touching, an old soul series. Each dish has its own story, each dish is a memory of that person. In the end of each episode, they also has a short instruction to make the dish.

In 2015, the series movie was also released featuring Mikako Tabe (the lovely Sawako of Kimi ni Todoke live-action).

KODOKU NO GURUME

Adapting from a manga, the series have 5 seasons. A lonely businessman travels through Japan, eating at restaurants and experiencing specialities of Japanese cuisine as well as snack foods. Each chapter features a different place and dish. (Source: Wikipedia)
